Jessica Palmer

Partner & Head of Family Law

Jessica Palmer is Partner and Head of Family at Streathers Daynes Smith advising clients on all areas of private family law including divorce, financial issues, child arrangements, cohabitation and pre and post nuptial agreements. She is also a trained mediator.

Jessica advises a broad range of clients, from high net worth individuals with complex asset structures to those with more modest financial circumstances where different challenges arise. She regularly provides strategic advice on complex matters involving business interests, trust arrangements, and international assets.

Jessica takes an empathetic and personal approach to working with clients, ensuring they feel supported and clearly guided at every stage of the process. She prioritises helping families achieve constructive outcomes outside of court wherever possible, while also bringing significant experience and confidence to navigating complex disputes through court proceedings when required.

What sets Jessica apart is her personal approach to client care which, combined with her strong technical expertise, enables her to think creatively and pragmatically when reaching resolutions.

I know that taking the step to speak to a lawyer at the start of a divorce can feel overwhelming. From day one, I see my role as being alongside my clients, offering calm, clear, step-by-step support so they feel understood, supported and confident as we work together to secure the best possible outcomes for them and their children.

Jessica provides a personal and flexible service allowing her to provide advice to clients at various different stages of their legal journey dependent upon their circumstance and needs. She is able to meet with clients across all of our offices.

Experience

Jessica has over 13 years of experience advising on family law matters. Examples of the types of matter she has handled include:

  • Successfully representing a Spanish client with a jurisdiction dispute to have her divorce proceedings heard in England. Jessica then assisted with advising the client in relation to complex company assets which involved the instruction of a single joint expert.
  • Advising a client in divorce and financial remedies involving a significant factual dispute regarding the source of funds held within a family trust.
  • Representing a client in financial remedy proceedings involving an application for legal fees to be paid by her husband, interim maintenance and complex enforcement issues.
  • Representing a client in successfully resisting an application seeking to remove his son from England to live in South Africa with his mother.
  • Representing a client in relation to ongoing child arrangements proceedings involving serious allegations of domestic abuse.
  • Advising a client in relation to a complex prenuptial agreement involving multi-million-pound assets.
