When a family member passes, there are often daunting practical and legal responsibilities to take care of. From applying for probate and administering an estate, to navigating inheritance tax and resolving disputes, our experienced probate solicitors can guide you through every stage of the process with kindness and clarity.

We have considerable expertise in administering estates of all sizes - from modest estates with few complexities to highly valuable estates comprising complex assets held in multiple jurisdictions. All estates are different and we take time at the outset to get to know you and understand how you would like to work with us. We are then committed to keeping you updated regularly as we progress the administration of the estate.
For private clients with other estate planning and lasting power of attorney needs, we also provide our Wills, Trusts and Estate Planning and Estate Disputes services.
Our probate and estate support covers:
Executor advice
We guide you through your responsibilities, clarifying exactly what needs to be done and when.
Probate applications
We make sure the necessary information and documentation are prepared correctly – moving the administration of the estate forward efficiently.
Wills and intestacy
We explain how the estate should be distributed according to the will’s terms. If there is no will, we’ll advise on the intestacy provisions and how they apply to the estate.
Estate valuations
Coordinating with valuers and other professionals if needed, we help establish the value of assets for inheritance tax and estate administration purposes.
Inheritance tax accounts
We prepare the necessary inheritance tax accounts and clarify the tax position of the estate – ensuring all the requirements are dealt with accurately.
Deeds of variation
This deed allows beneficiaries to change how an estate is distributed. We advise on whether this is applicable and then take care of the process, from drafting to implementation.
Overseas assets
When an estate includes assets abroad, we coordinate with lawyers in the relevant jurisdiction to make sure everything is administered smoothly.
Property transfers
We deal with the legal transfer of property, ensuring ownership is updated correctly and the property is dealt with in accordance with the will or intestacy provisions.
